Frequently Asked Questions
QUESTION 1: How can I filter my mailbox for
SPAM email messages?
- Our email server will rate every email message that
comes through our system and will place a tag in the header of the email
message if it believes the email message is SPAM. You can set up a
rule in your mailbox to filter out all email messages that contain this tag
in the email header. For instructions on how to set up this rule, see
the article: How
to use ANTI-SPAM features to filter your email.
QUESTION 2: How do I report a message as
SPAM?
- If you are using our SPAM filter (see question 1) and you
still receive a message that you believe is SPAM and would like to report
it, select the message on, then click on MAIL ACTIONS from the menu at the
top of the screen. Then choose REPORT AS SPAM.
QUESTION 3: What web browsers will work
with BWIG webmail?
- You must have a browser meeting the following minimum
requirements.
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 8.0 or later (Make
sure it is NOT running in compatibility mode.)
- Mozilla Firebox 7 or later (for Microsoft Windows or
Macintosh)
- Safari 5 and later
- Google Chrome
QUESTION 4: My inbox doesn't look right and
I can't see any messages?

If you are using Internet Explorer and compatibility mode
is turned on, you will not be able to see your inbox or read your messages.

QUESTION 5: How can I select multiple messages in
my mailbox to move or delete them?
- Selecting multiple messages at a time is done similar
to how you would do it in Microsoft Windows. If you hold down the
CONTROL key on your keyboard, while clicking individual emails, it will
select all the messages you individually click. If you wish to select
a block of emails, simply hold down the SHIFT key on your keyboard, click on
the first email, then click the last email, and all the email messages in
between will be selected.
- Alternatively you can turn on selection checkboxes by
clicking on
ACTION (located on the top left corner of the screen. Then click MANAGE USER
OPTIONS. Then under the VIEWING MESSAGES
tab, then, check the box next to ENABLE
SELECTION CHECKBOX IN MESSAGE LIST, finally click the SAVE button on the top
of the window. Now you will have selection checkboxes display in your
message folders.
QUESTION 6: When I click on a message, it
displays it in the preview pane at the bottom of the screen. How can I
turn off the preview pane?
- You can turn off the preview pane by clicking on
ACTION (located on the top left corner of the screen. Then click MANAGE USER
OPTIONS. Then under the VIEWING MESSAGES
tab, select NONE from the READING PANE LOCATION drop down box, after this click
SAVE on the menu bar. The preview pane will now be off.
QUESTION 7: Is there a way to view all my
email messages, not just the first 10?
- Click on ACTION on the top left corner of the screen.
Then click MANAGE USER OPTIONS. Under the VIEWING MESSAGES tab, change the option for Number of items
Per Page: to something greater than 10. Then click the SAVE button at the top of
the page.
QUESTION 8: When I create a new message,
how do I select an email address from the contacts list to send the new message
to?
- When you have a new message open, or are forwarding a
message, you can click on the TO button to pop open the contact list.
From there you can double click on the address from the contact list, or
click on it once and click SAVE AND CLOSE to add it to the into the list of
those you are sending the email to.
QUESTION 9: When I click the button to create a
new message or reply to a message nothing happens. How do I get the window
to open to create a new message?
- If you have a pop-up blocker installed, it is likely
preventing the new message window from opening. You can either
temporarily disable the pop-up blocker, or tell it to allow pop-ups from the
website mail.bwig.net.
QUESTION 10: What is Web Messaging Lite?

Web Messaging Lite
allows users with low-bandwidth (cell phone or small portable device
connected to the Internet) capability to access their mail quicker.
This new client does not have all the features of the standard web
client, so as to keep the bandwidth as light as possible. Some features that
cannot be accessed are Rules, Contact Groups, Search and Auto Suggest.
